Polaris has made a new off-road vehicle called the Xpedition. It's bigger and has more space inside for riders and storage for outdoor adventures. They showed it to us in a virtual event and talked about their plans for it.

Here's the simple idea: People who like UTVs and ATVs often bring them on a trailer behind another vehicle for outdoor trips. Or they get a big outdoor vehicle without a UTV. So, there's a market for a vehicle that can do both, like the Xpedition.

The Xpedition has two seats and is fully enclosed. You can take off the panels, like the windscreen and roof. You can get roof and side covers in different materials, and you can change how they're set up. Closing it up like this makes it better for longer trips and you can have things like heating inside.

The two-door models are a bit bigger than some four-seat Polaris RZR models. The Xpedition XP and ADV are about 122.5 x 64 x 74.9 inches in size. The wheelbase is 87.5 inches, and it has 14 inches of ground clearance. The XP can carry up to 600 lbs in its bed or 1,160 lbs of cargo.

The ADV model doesn't have the dump bed option, so its bed is bigger, but it can carry 1,030 lbs in the two-door version and 1,160 lbs in the four-door.

All models can tow up to 2,000 lbs.

The Xpedition has a 999-cc ProStar 1000 Gen 2 EFI engine that makes 114 horsepower. It has an automatic transmission that can switch between two-wheel and all-wheel drive. The front suspension can go up to 14 inches, and the rear can stretch to 15 inches.

The four-door Xpedition models are a bit longer at 152.5 inches. They have room for five people and a longer wheelbase of 117 inches. The four-door is heavier than the two-door.

All Xpedition models have a 12.5-gallon fuel tank and can go more than 200 miles on a tank. They can carry stuff on the roof, like 150 lbs while driving or 500 lbs while parked.

You can get lots of accessories for the Xpedition, either one by one or in kits for specific adventures. For example, the Overland kit adds things like lights, a rooftop tent, and tires for off-road use. There are other kits for different activities like carrying kayaks.

The Xpedition starts at $29,000 and goes up to about $40,000 without accessories. You can find them in the US starting in the fall of 2023.
